Weekend whales, dolphins, otters

WEEKEND REPORT ~ March 25, 2019

Mostly gray whales, some bottlenose dolphins, harbor porpoise, and a few humpback whales that have arrived early for their summer feeding season in Monterey Bay.

Saturday wind kept us near the shoreline along Capitola – we saw a gray whale we recognize as “Cappy,” a single gray whale who tends to stay around Monterey Bay while other gray whales migrate north. We last had him in our report May 31. Plus, bottlenose dolphins, harbor porpoise.

Sunday, Gray whales, and we had good looks at humpback whales who showed us some tail slaps... and OTTERS!
