"CHECKMARKS" CRC-12422, is a female humpback whale first ID'd in 2008. She travels between Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Monterey Bay.

"CRC-18587" was first spotted in 2019, and has a documented range between Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean waters off Point Reyes (Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary)

"CRC-16359" has been seen since 2010 as far south as San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico and the Farallones off San Francisco Bay Area.

Humpback whale individuals have distinctive markings, like fingerprints, on their flukes. We participate with the Happy Whale Project to compare fluke-markings, identify and name these amazing whales and follow their journeys along the Pacific Coast and around the world!
