July 1st: We found Humpback Whale “Gulper” feeding again, Moon Jellies, California Sea Lions and Southern Sea Otters!
June 30th: Good looks at Humpback Whales and Albatross!
June 28th: 3 Humpback Whales, including “Gulper”, who went from sleeping to “gulping” up anchovies!
June 27th: Good looks at 6+ Humpback Whales, Black-footed Albatross, a Mola-Mola, California Sea Lions and Southern Sea Otters!
June 26th: We had an incredible encounter with Humpback Whale “Miracle” and her active calf, “Marvel”! Marvel was breaching and pec-slapping almost the entire time we were with them!
June 25th: We ventured a long way to the west but managed to find 3 Humpback Whales, including a mom/calf pair and Black-footed Albatross. We also saw hundreds of Risso’s Dolphins, a couple dozen Pacific White-Sided Dolphins, and half a dozen Northern Right Whale Dolphins!
June 24th Wildlife trip: We saw a SHARK! It zipped by quickly but was a juvenile Great White Shark! We also saw our typical furry friends in the water: Sea Lions, Sea Otters and Harbor Seals!
June 24th: DOLPHIN DAY! Unfortunately, no large cetaceans due to high winds, but we did find multiple groups of Risso’s Dolphins and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins!
June 20th: ORCAS! We observed 5 Orcas, including well-known male “Jimmy” (we saw him solo two weeks ago) and a less frequently encountered pod that had a new calf. Adult male “Jimmy” (OCT016B/CA50B) and a rarely encountered adult female with her 3 offspring (OCT038s/CA122Bs)! The new calf is most likely less than a year old and was being very playful with porpoising and tail slaps. We also saw thousands of Sooty Shearwaters, Black-footed Albatross, Southern Sea Otters and two massive California Sea Lions.
